Learning While Leading

By Laureen Golden

Happy Monday!!! In the past few weeks we’ve explored the topics of Presence, relationships, information overload and learning. This week, let’s explore leadership.

When talking about leaders, I’m referring to “both leaders who lead others and those who lead their own lives with purpose and meaning.“[1]

Hopefully you see yourself in this definition because I believe “all of us are increasingly being asked to take leadership roles in our lives.“[2]

I’m interested in supporting leaders like you who are “pioneering new approaches to organizing and leading…experimenting with new approachesfor resolving the most difficult societal problems. [Those who] have abandoned traditional practices of hierarchy, power, and bureaucracy…[who] believe in people’s innate creativity and caring…[and who] practice consistent innovation and courage.“[3]

I’m interested in helping you ~ as individuals and as a community of Paradigm Shifting Leaders ~ to shorten the learning curve and discover, “What actually works in our new world?“.

Why? Because the work you’re doing matters and there is so much to discover and learn!

But how do we learn what we need to learn…while leading? (In exponential change, there’s no longer time to treat learning as formal and separate from the work we are doing. Instead, we’re being invited to explore how the work we’re doing is the means for our learning and development.)

So how are you learning what you need to learn…while you’re leading?

I invite you to pause & ponder this because ~ whether you realize it or not ~ you are doing it (I know many of you and I see you “learning like lightening“[4]).

Pausing & pondering can help you grow more conscious ~ and therefore more intentional ~ about what and how you’ve been learning while leading.

Care to share? Please add your comments! I’d love to hear what you’re noticing about how you are finding ways to learn while you lead!
